Self Care
Most minor injuries or illnesses can be better treated at home with a well stocked medical cabinet and plenty of rest. Some self care essentials are; paracetamol, anti-diarrhoea medicines, re-hydration mixtures and a thermometer.

As well as dispensing prescriptions your local pharmacist can give you lots of advice on common conditions such as aches, colds, sore throats, skin conditions, allergies and rashes. Your nearest extended hours pharmacies are:

GP Appointments
The practice offers a mixture of pre-bookable and emergency appointments. These can be booked Mon to Fri 8am – 6pm and Thurs 8am – 1pm.

If you urgently need medical help or advice but it’s not a life threatening situation.

– You think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service.
– You don’t know who to call or you don’t have a GP
– You need health information or reassurance about what to do next

Evenings and Weekend Doctors
Access to a GP is available when your surgery is closed. If you require medical assistance when the practice is closed during the evenings, at weekends or over a bank holiday period, you can call your evening and weekend provider on 111 or SDUC – Staffordshire Doctors urgent Care on 0300 7900246.

This service is staffed by local GP’s to ensure that all registered patients have 24/7 medical cover.

They will triage your call and decide what action is required. Should you need to be seen you will be given an appointment to attend their base which is located at: Unit 5, Riverside 2, Campbell Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 4RJ.

Step 3 – if you require help outside of these hours you can call 111, your call will be triaged and if necessary you be seen at a local Health Centre.

Accident & Emergency or 999
A&E should only be used for critical or life threatening situations. The department provides immediate care for people who are seriously ill or injured. Think twice before going to A&E.

Chest pain and shortness of breath constitute an emergency. In the case of an emergency call 999.
